Kick your tourism career into overdrive with AIPE's Diploma of Tourism. Learn essential skills to work effectively in the travel industry, whether it be in a hotel or resort, with a major cruise liner or an airline, with a tour wholesaler or operator or even in a retail travel agency.

Over two years you'll develop extensive experience in tourism operations, marketing and product development.

Career opportunities include visitor information centre manager, tour operations managers, inbound group manager, call centre manager, retail travel agency manager, tourist business owner, sales manager and tourism manager.

The basis of our assessment strategy is to provide you with the means to demonstrate that you have the knowledge and skills to undertake real-world activities to a current industry standard. In each subject there is a similar pattern of assessment. There are specific assessment tasks such as projects, case studies and reports, there will be an interview with your tutor, and an online final exam. To pass each subject, you must successfully complete all the tasks set for you. Importantly, you will also be graded on your skills (where appropriate) such as communication, problem-solving, leadership, organizing and planning and teamwork. These skills are critical in distinguishing yourself in job interviews and in the workplace.

AIPE's online courses are available to Australian students only.

Online entry requirements:

• The Higher School Certificate (HSC).
• SIT30107 Certificate IV in Tourism or other relevant qualification.
• Previous business experience in the tourism industry.

Online students must be currently working or have access to a workplace for this course. You may be working full-time, part-time, casually or volunteering/interning.

Computer requirements:

• A computer with either Windows 98 or higher OR Mac OSX 10.2 or higher
• CD-ROM drive
• Internet access.

Upon successful completion of the Diploma of Tourism qualification at AIPE, you will be able to progress into our Advanced Diploma qualifications. Should you wish to go onto study at a university with which AIPE has an articulation agreement, you must meet the admission criteria set by the university of your choice. Articulation agreements with Australian universities guarantee a number of credit points (advanced standing) towards bachelor degrees. For details on AIPE's articulation agreements click here.
