Enjoy the freedom to speak English confidently in everyday situations with AIPE's General English course. Learn English language skills to communicate on a day-to-day basis when you're shopping, working, socialising and travelling. In this fun and interactive course, you'll gain fluency in the core skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking while at the same time strengthening your vocabulary, pronunciation and grammar.

This course is available from elementary to advanced levels. The content of each level varies from functional English in the early stages through to academic English as you progress through the courses. As a student at AIPE, you'll be placed into a class based on your level of English proficiency as determined by your results in AIPE's placement test given at your orientation.

AIPE teachers use fun and interactive methods in the classroom that offer students a number of opportunities to practise speaking while also expanding grammatical and lexical range and accuracy. You will have regular tutorials with your teacher in which you will be encouraged to discuss your progress and set study goals. You will also sit weekly tests in order to revise and consolidate your learning. AIPE is one of the best English language skills in Sydney.

Classes start every Monday. Generally, students are expected to progress through each level after 10 weeks. There are 20 hours of classes per week and daytime and evening study options are available.

Beginner/Elementary

Learn simple vocabulary and common phrases to use in everyday situations. This level provides the basic framework for you to communicate in an English speaking environment. As your confidence increases, you'll be able to use different tenses, read basic texts and write simple passages.

Pre-Intermediate

Learn more complex sentences and textual structures as you build on the skills learnt at the elementary level. Through this level you'll read short newspaper articles, understand and communicate in situational language and be able to write letters and simple stories.

Intermediate

Learn how to use more abstract language in reading, writing and speaking and further improve your grammatical skills. Throughout the Intermediate class you'll be able to participate in more complex discussions and understand the fundamental elements of several genres and how to write in that style.

Upper-Intermediate

Learn to use all forms of grammar and take part in discussions about a wide range of topics and issues. In this level you'll be able to read and comprehend various types of written material such as newspaper articles, stories and reports and gain confidence and skills in academic writing.
